Description

The course is taught over two sessions.
The classroom portion of the course teaches:
• Safety aspects of using and handling a rifle
• Different types of rifles
• Parts of a rifle
• Components of a cartridge
• Malfunctions
• Fundamentals of rifle shooting
• Range commands
• Shooting positions
• Cleaning and care of a rifle

Practical application is a two to three hour session at a safe, established shooting range using live-fire exercises during which students will practice the basic shooting fundamentals they just learned.
Course fee: $150 (Includes all student materials and range fees. Cost of ammunition or weapon rental is not included.)
Course requirements: Students must not have been convicted of a felony. Minor students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Certificate requirements: Passing score on written exam and demonstration of safe gun handling practices
